Layout Share: ‘Friends’ Scraplift using April Mind the Scrap kit

Hello all!

This post is a little later than planned, but I hope you had a good weekend and managed to get some creating in, if not more memories to scrap. I feel like I churned out the layouts a bit last week, probably because I was completely free while I waited to start my new job.

Today I’m sharing a layout that I created after watching the Mind the Scrap scrap-along in the Facebook group on Thursday 26th, using the April kits.

The background was easy enough, as I just picked an uncut darker sheet of 12×12 cardstock, and grabbed a part-used sheet for the middle.

Next I punched a bunch of circles out, making sure I had some from each paper in the kit and that the patterns were orientated the way I liked once they were cut in half.

There are a lot of different patterns and colours going on with those semi-circles, and I could have very easily spent hours trying to place them in a proper pattern, but I ended up going with the very first arrangement I’d put down (I’d taken a photo on my phone to make sure I could remember it; that’s one of my top tips if you’re not sure how you’ll place things!). Each semi-circle is secured with a single glue dot, so they have a little dimension and movement. I would have happily done the sewing aswell if I had a sewing machine, but I didn’t want to spend hours hand stitching (she says with another hand-sewn layout on the go…!).

Originally the photo was only matted on light grey cardstock, but I added a layer of the firefly paper to make it pop a little more.

Next I added the embellishments and tiny word stickers. I decided the title ‘Friends’ was enough, together with “Say cheese!” and “Such babes”, as it was just a group selfie we took at the pub. This was actually the day I handed in my dissertation last year, hence “I needed that!” as well. The title also makes a nice visual triangle with the other thickers embellishments.

As a final touch I added the ombré branding strip on the left hand side.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this scraplift! Let me know if you give it a try, I’d love to see πŸ™‚

Bye for now,

Charissa xx
